Developing Country Assistance

The Bah Bolan project, located in North Sumatra Indonesia, was a major project funded equally by the Governments of Australia and Indonesia. It was undertaken within a 30,000 Ha project area and consisted of:

Flood control
River management
Irrigation and drainage
Agricultural development; and
Institutional strengthening and training,
with the primary aim to significantly increase net farm income from rice production.

Shane was initially appointed as senior construction engineer, but completed the final six months of this successful $100M project as Australian Team Leader.
